Removing the cover screw of westcott 43 collapsible umbrella

There is little to complain about the Westcott 43 collapsible umbrella with removable cover. It is portable, versatile and very well made. I will be deploying it and show the results. Some people complain about a few issues though that it would be good if Westcott took care of. One of the major issues is removing the black cover. There is a flat head screw with sharp edges that can easily cut your fingers while trying tor remove it. Here’s a simple mod to overcome this frustration:

I got a few of these protectors that go under sofa legs to make it possible to move when on a carpet:

These have a diameter of 30 mm, slightly larger than the screw head. They have a hard plastic cap and a padded sticky side. I stuck one of these on the flat screw head:

Now screwing/unscrewing is a piece of cake! But guys at Westcott, please at least wrap the head in thermoplastic…
